Management Strategy

Book Club update – finished  “Getting the Right Things Doneâ€? by Pascal Dennis on a 2-1/2 hour flight to Atlanta.

Good news is we already had the groundwork done by pulling together a Mission and Vision statement.  You don’t have to throw out work you have already done.

Based on our approach, our “True Northâ€? was easy to define.  Translate sentences into words.

•          Win - Increase market share and differentiate our value leveraging our technology offerings

•          Innovate - Protect the integrity of our products by providing candid feedback to key business partners

•          Inform - Educate business partners and external clients through our ability to translate business needs into technology solutions

Selected four clear areas of focus:

  • Profitability

  • Quality

  • Delivery

  • Employee Satisfaction

For each, develop a hypothesis.  Then establish metrics that tell a story, reflect on last year’s activities and why you want to make changes this year.

Develop your high level action plan and list any unresolved issues.

Draw up in an A3 template.

Create metric tracking system.

Management Tactics

New direction for team meetings or calls – Target, result, explain why.

Align your directs with a focus area in your strategy, but make sure they syndicate knowledge.

Go to the gemba…often
